June Wrap Up (2020)

https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/

Hello!

I was going to do the Mid Year Book Freak-out Tag but I feel like this year has been a century, so here’s a wrap up instead.

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet

Rating: 4 out of 5.

If you have watched the Good Omens adaptation on Amazon Prime, then there is no need to read this. I read it because I am very curious on how things are different between the adaptation and the original text. But Amazon Prime came through and it is basically the same thing page by page. I think that it was a fun read, but I did find myself not really paying too much attention because it was like a “oh okay, I remember this” for the entire book. With that said, I am happy to have this off my TBR.

And I Darken by Kriesten White

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I know this is a gender bent version of Vlad the Impaler. BUT may I say: not that good????

I think that given the person it was inspired by, this had so much potential. It was a good book but it could’ve been so much better. I felt like the story dragged on, that the plot was reused three times throughout the entire book and that the characters are pretty stagnant. Even with the years passing on the story, they still felt childish for the scenarios they found themselves in. I did do a review of this book so if you want to check that out:

But overall, it was good. It just could’ve been better.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzerald

Rating: 2 out of 5.

I’m not going to say anything because all my thoughts are incoherent on this book. In short: *confused whale noises*

Sadie by Courtney Summers

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Can someone tell me why it took FOREVER for me to finish this masterpiece????

I listened to the audiobook of this during a car ride, and OMG! I –

To this day, I don’t know how to articulate how amazing this was. This book caught me by the throat and I said “thank you”.

Those are all the books I read in June. Let me know what you read and I will see you in my next post.
